Couples Therapy for Emotional Disconnection & Communication Patterns

I am a bilingual mental health therapist who works with couples who feel emotionally distant or stuck in repeating communication patterns, where conversations escalate or shut down and one or both partners feel unheard.  Licensed in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Texas. Services provided online.

Services I Offer

I provide ongoing couples therapy focused on emotional disconnection, recurring communication patterns, and relational stress.

This work is designed to explore and understand the patterns between you — not to determine who is right or wrong.

If you’re here because your relationship feels distant, conversations escalate or shut down quickly, or one of you feels unheard or alone, Couples Therapy for Emotional Disconnection & Communication Patterns is the right place to start.

Who This Work Is For

This work is often a good fit if you:

  • Feel emotionally distant from your partner

  • Get stuck in repeating arguments or communication shutdowns

  • Notice that one of you feels unheard or alone in trying to improve the relationship

  • Care about the relationship but don’t know how to shift the patterns you’re in

  • Want to understand what’s happening between you rather than assign blame

I work best with couples who are willing to participate together and are open to slowing down conversations in order to better understand their relational dynamics.

When This May Not Be the Right Fit

This work may not be the best fit if you:

  • Are seeking crisis-level or emergency relationship intervention

  • Want individual therapy focused on only one partner

  • Are looking for discernment counseling about whether to separate

  • Prefer immediate conflict resolution without exploration

  • Are navigating active domestic violence or safety concerns

This practice provides ongoing relational therapy for couples who are willing to participate together and explore patterns over time.

How I Work

My approach to couples therapy is relational and pattern-focused. Rather than concentrating only on resolving individual arguments, we examine the dynamics that keep cycles of conflict, distance, or miscommunication in place.

In therapy, we may explore:

  • Repeating interaction patterns between you

  • Escalation and withdrawal cycles

  • Emotional needs that are difficult to express or hear

  • How past relational experiences shape present conflict

I adapt the work to each couple’s dynamic, but the focus remains on understanding what happens between you and building relational awareness over time.

Why Clients (and Referrers) Often Choose Me

Clients and referring providers often choose me because:

  • I have been in clinical practice since 1998 and bring extensive relational experience

  • My work centers on understanding patterns rather than assigning blame

  • I maintain neutrality and focus on the relationship itself

  • I provide structured, ongoing relational therapy rather than mediation or quick-fix solutions

Referrers often appreciate that I clearly distinguish couples therapy from individual therapy and maintain strong ethical boundaries around safety and scope.
