Today’s Affirmation: I Will Not Abandon Myself Just to Keep the Peace

If you’ve ever gone silent in a room to avoid conflict...If you’ve swallowed your feelings to keep someone else comfortable...If you’ve said “I’m fine” when you were anything but...
Esta afirmación es para ti:
I will not abandon myself to keep the peace.
Why We Do It (Especially in Our Culture)
But the peace we were preserving?
It came at a cost.

The cost of our voice.
The cost of our rest.
The cost of our wholeness.
True peace doesn’t require you to disappear.
True peace includes you, too.
How Self-Abandonment Shows Up
You may not realize you’re doing it because it’s become second nature. But self-abandonment often hides behind words like:
“It’s fine.”
“It’s not a big deal.”
“I’ll handle it.”

It shows up when you:
Agree to avoid an argument
Stay silent to avoid disappointing someone
Downplay your own success or needs
Keep the peace on the outside while falling apart on the inside
Esto no es armonía. Es autoabandono disfrazado de calma.
🧘🏽♀️ What Healing Looks Like
Healing begins the moment you decide:
“I matter, too.”
“This conversation might be uncomfortable, but it’s necessary.”
“I can be kind and have boundaries.”

In the therapeutic coaching intensives I offer, we help mujeres like tú:
Speak their truth without apology
Set limits without guilt
Reclaim the parts of themselves they’ve quieted for too long
As one client beautifully put it:
“I thought being the peacemaker made me strong. But I was slowly erasing myself.”
💬 Reclaiming Today’s Affirmation
Repeat this with me—out loud if you can:
I will not abandon myself just to keep the peace.
Take a breath.
Let it land in your body.
Feel what it’s like to mean it.
You were not born to shrink.
You were not meant to disappear so others could shine.
